ARCA is Eclipse’s ground system control software for engine tests. It outputs commands, such as igniting the engine, controlling the valves, and regulating the heating tape on the engine oxidizer tank. Additionally, ARCA records data from the engine load cells, thermocouples, and pressure transducers. It expands the capabilities of our previous ground testing system. The design can be expanded upon, as it allows for an additional pressure transducer and valve to be connected to the system directly. In total, the system is capable of handling 11 additional sensors of any sort, provided they are attached with breakout boards.

Currently, ARCA is in late development. Primary design work was completed in the 2020-2021 school year, and extensive troubleshooting of the board led to the team developing the ARCA 2.0 iteration, which is poised to replace our aging legacy hardware by the end of Spring 2022.
